However,&amp;nbsp;I found the following comment by Ron Paul at the GOP Debate insulting to our troops and it just shows why he should never be President.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;"But I'll tell you how we should do it. We're spending -- believe it or not, this blew my mind when I read this -- $20 billion a year for air conditioning in Afghanistan and Iraq in the tents over there and all the air conditioning. Cut that $20 billion out, bring in -- take $10 off the debt, and put $10 into FEMA or whoever else needs it, child health care or whatever. But I'll tell you what, if we did that and took the air conditioning out of the Green Zone, our troops would come home, and that would make me happy". &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;&amp;nbsp;If you really listen to the inference here it makes it sound as though he thinks our troops are just setting around soaking up the AC doing nothing of value. &amp;nbsp;So he thinks if you turn off the aircondiioning they would all come home tomorrow.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You know&amp;nbsp;Representative Paul has such a good grasp of the military and how it works as shown by his nonsensical&amp;nbsp;statement, not. Does he really think if you turned off the a/c they could all just say, " OK, no more a/c. I am leaving?" I have had many people tell me they hate the elections and will be glad when it is over. No wonder there is so much apathy on the part of the electorate in America.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Those running for office and those voting have all become callous to the real significance of our right to vote.&amp;nbsp;Very few people are excited about election day and casting their ballot. The problem is we should be.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When our Founding Fathers put our Constitution in place to guide our future they understood our right to vote as a God given one. A right to be cherished and celebrated, not dreaded or wasted. I believe they would have told you to not vote was unpatriotic and lazy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They believed July 4th should be celebrated in honor of the Declaration. I believe they also expected us to cherish our right to vote for our representatives in government and to use that right wisely.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Election day should be a day of celebration of not only our right to vote but of those who have defended that right with their blood and service. Americans have long been willing to defend our Constitution and our right to vote provided in it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We need to rise above the partisan politics and negative ads and look at what is really going on here. It is about exercising a right that few people in this world ever will.&amp;nbsp; The right to stand as "we the people" and elect our government without threat of reprisal. It is about having a voice in the way we are governed.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Lets do it right this November 2nd. Go and cast your ballot excitedly and cherish the moment. Afterwards, celebrate that God given right for the rest of the day. How do we tell the "bums" from the good guys when choosing our elected officials in America?&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;In trying to answer this question I came across the following poem in the book &lt;i&gt;In God We Still Trust&lt;/i&gt;&amp;nbsp;by Dr. Richard G. Lee. The poem, titled &lt;i&gt;God, Give us Men,&lt;/i&gt;&amp;nbsp;was penned by Josiah Gilbert Holland in the 1800's.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;I think it clearly&amp;nbsp;describes&amp;nbsp;the standards by which we should gauge office seekers by.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;God, Give Us Men&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;God, give us men! A time like this demands&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;Strong minds, great hearts, true faith and ready hands;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;Men whom the lust of office does not kill;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;Men whom the spoils of office can not buy;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;Men who possess opinions and a will;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;Men who have honor; men who will not lie;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;Men who can stand before a demagogue&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;And damn his treacherous flatteries without winking!&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;Tall men, sun-crowned, who live above the fog&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;In public duty, and in private thinking;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;For while the rabble, with their thumb-worn creeds,&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;Their large professions and their little deeds,&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;Mingle in selfish strife, lo! Freedom&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;weeps,&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;Wrong rules the land and waiting&amp;nbsp;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;Justice&amp;nbsp;sleeps.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;When I read this it made me see clearly what the standard is for those who would seek to serve us in government should be measured. People who have rolled up their sleeves to work with their ready hands to better their community or their church. &amp;nbsp;People who have a proven track record of being of strong mind and great heart for being&amp;nbsp;involved and taking a stand for truth no matter what the cost.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;Men who will resist the bribes and favors of the&amp;nbsp;lobbyist and special interest groups because their opinions and wills don't allow them to be bought or swayed from their principles and beliefs. People who have exhibited honor and integrity in their&amp;nbsp;everyday lives.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;They are those that resist the flattery and flowery rhetoric of the power drunk demagogue who would tickle their ears and enslave them. People who live above the fog of the Statehouse or the Beltway&amp;nbsp;because&amp;nbsp;they do&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;stand on principle and faith and whose crown will come in Heaven not on this Earth.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;Since we have lost site of these standards to gauge them by, our nation is in turmoil and and the people are&amp;nbsp;disillusioned&amp;nbsp;with those they have sent to Washington to "represent" them. &amp;nbsp;We the people have determined we have indeed sent bums to oversee the process of self-governance. They are untrustworthy, favor seeking, and self-serving. &amp;nbsp;They are not there to do the peoples business but rather to perpetuate&amp;nbsp;their&amp;nbsp;own careers at the expense of the people.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;I am all for throwing the bums out. But before we do. Lets make sure we are measuring the hopeful replacements by a clear and high set of standards. As &amp;nbsp;result I smacked the back of my head and had to be hospitalized for several days. &amp;nbsp;One day the door to my hospital room opened and an elderly lady entered the room. I asked her if I could help her as she seemed confused. &amp;nbsp;She asked, "is this Keith Miller's room?" &amp;nbsp;When I replied "yes that's me", she looked very disappointed and extremely sad. &amp;nbsp;I asked her if there was something I could help her with. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"&gt;She then told me that her son, Keith, had been listed as Missing in Action since WWII. She told me that when she saw the name in the paper under Hospital news, she just could not help but hope it was him after all those years. She immediately headed to the hospital with the hope her son had at last been found.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"&gt;I spoke with her for a few more minutes and then she left with tears in her eyes. &amp;nbsp;With all my heart I wished it would have been him and not me. Her sadness overwhelmed me and I began to weep.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"&gt;I will never forget the sadness in that mothers eyes over the lack of closure even after all those years. &amp;nbsp;It is bad enough when a family loses a loved one in the service of their country and the remains are sent home to rest. &amp;nbsp;However, I believe it is even harder on the families who are told their loved one is&amp;nbsp;missing&amp;nbsp;in action and there is no closure. No grave to visit on Memorial Day or any other day. No&amp;nbsp;certainty&amp;nbsp;to their final fate.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 13px;"&gt;Having not suffered this kind of loss we can only imagine the pain and longing these families must endure. &amp;nbsp;These families seem to get lost in the grand scheme of things. People are angry and confused and looking for leadership and real solutions. This is not a new feeling but rather a heightened awareness of what the Declaration of Independence refers to as “along train of abuses”. Those on the national political and talk stage postulate about the problem but few seem to put forth a legitimate Constitutional solution.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;I believe in order to solve any problem you must look at the history of the situation to fully grasp it and have any hope of success in correcting it. When it comes to the &lt;st1:country-region w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;United States&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:country-region&gt; and the current problems of governance it would therefore make sense to look to the history and thought behind the Constitution of our Republic in seeking answers.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;What did the signers and supporters of the Constitution have in mind when they drafted and ratified it? &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;It is only through this approach that we can hope to determine their original intent and how we have arrived at our current calamity. Once we have gained that knowledge we can begin to find constitutionally based solutions to the long train of abuses of the &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;federal&lt;/i&gt; government against the rights of the people and the States.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Who in the words of the proponents of the Constitution were to be the “sentinels” that would watch over the rights of the people and of these &lt;st1:country-region w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;United States&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:country-region&gt;? Who would sound the alarm and devise a plan of resistance to encroachments on the rights of the people and the States by the federal government? What safeguard did they envision that would protect these rights?&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;A good source to go to in order to find the answers to these questions is the &lt;i style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"&gt;Federalist Papers&lt;/i&gt;. In re-reviewing them I found a consistent theme as to who they believed would be these sentinels.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;It was their thought that the State governments would act as those sentinels. The governments of the several &lt;st1:country-region w:st="on"&gt;United States&lt;/st1:country-region&gt; after all are the foundation of the &lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Union&lt;/st1:place&gt; governed by the Constitution. Therefore, the founders believed they would stand guard on behalf of the people they represent.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;There are numerous statements contained in the Federalist Papers which would lead us to this understanding of the supporters of the Constitutions thoughts. I believe they are the most authoritative explanations of the original intent of the Constitution. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Let’s begin our review with a statement contained in Federalist 84 written by Alexander Hamilton followed by quotes from other Papers:&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Federalist 84 (&lt;st1:city w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Hamilton&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:city&gt;);&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;“The executive and legislative bodies of each state will be so many sentinels over the&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;persons employed in every department of the national administration; and as it will be&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;in their power to adopt and pursue a regular and effectual system of intelligence, they&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;can never be at a loss to know the behavior of those who represent their constituents in&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;the national councils, and can readily communicate the same knowledge to the &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;people.”&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;st1:city w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Hamilton&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:city&gt; very clearly says the State governments are to be the sentinels watching over the national government and alerting the people to any actions contrary to the Constitution.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Federalist 44 (&lt;st1:city w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Madison&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:city&gt;):&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;“The truth is, that this ultimate redress may be more confided in against&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Unconstitutional acts of the federal than of the State Legislatures, for this plain reason,&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;that as every such act of the former, will be an invasion of the rights of the latter,&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;these will be ever ready to mark the innovation, to sound the alarm to the people, and &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;to extend their local influence in effecting a change of federal representatives.”&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;st1:city w:st="on"&gt;Madison&lt;/st1:city&gt; says the State Legislatures of the several States who comprise the &lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Union&lt;/st1:place&gt; will be the ones to note the encroachment, sound the alarm to the people, and use their local influence in causing the people to vote out the national representatives who committed the unconstitutional acts.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Federalist 45 (&lt;st1:city w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Madison&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:city&gt;):&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;“The State governments may be regarded as constituent and essential parts of the &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Federal Government; whilst the latter is nowise essential to the organization of the &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;former.”&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;st1:city w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Madison&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:city&gt; addresses the facts the State Governments are essential to the organization and operation of the federal Government, not the other way around. After all the States formed the &lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Union&lt;/st1:place&gt; which created the federal Government.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Federalist 45 continued: &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;“The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the Federal Government, are &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State Governments are numerous&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;and indefinite.”&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The federal governments’ role was in &lt;st1:city w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Madison&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:city&gt;’s mind clearly defined and limited by the proposed Constitution.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;However, those powers reserved to the several States would “extend to all the objects, which in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people; and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the State.”&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Federalist 46 (&lt;st1:city w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Madison&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:city&gt;): &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;“…should an unwarrantable measure of the Federal Government be unpopular in&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;particular States, which would seldom fail to be the case, or even a warrantable &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;measure be so, which may sometimes be the case, the means of opposition to it&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;are powerful and at hand.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;…But ambitious encroachments of the Federal Government, on the authority of the &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;State governments, would not excite the opposition of a single State or a few States&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;only. They would be signals of general alarm.&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Every Government would espouse &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;the common cause. A correspondence would be opened. Plans of resistance would be&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;concerted. One spirit would animate and conduct the whole.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;…it will not possess the confidence of the people, and its schemes of usurpation will&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Be easily defeated by the State Governments, who will be supported by the people.”&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;It is very clear that &lt;st1:city w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;Madison&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:city&gt; is saying the governments of the several States would be&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;the sentinels of our liberty. It would be the &lt;st1:country-region w:st="on"&gt;&lt;st1:place w:st="on"&gt;United States&lt;/st1:place&gt;&lt;/st1:country-region&gt;’ governments who would sound&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;the general alarm by coming together in common cause, corresponding with each other,&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;and devising a concerted plan of resistance. One spirit fueled by the common call to rally&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;around the Constitution and uphold State sovereignty and the rights of the people would&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;animate these efforts. As a defense against encroachments the people were to retain close &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;bonds of trust with their State Governments.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;Today, the people for the most part have lost sight of this important vanguard of &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;our liberties and too often look to the federal government for the answers to their &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal" style="margin-left: .5in; text-align: justify; text-indent: -.5in;"&gt;problems. America's vast natural resources make it one of the richest nations in the world. It's great expanses of land and its natural beauty could also be looked at as a great treasure.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, the treasure I am referring to is the great treasure our Founding Fathers gave us in drafting and ratifying the United States Constitution. It has been said the Declaration of Independence was the promise; the Constitution was the fulfillment. In developing the Constitution they where setting in place the safeguards need to secure the blessings of the liberty proclaimed in the Declaration.&lt;br /&gt;The Constitution was the fulfillment of the ideal in the Declaration: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the governed." &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;An ideal which put forth a revolutionary idea of self government never before attempted in the annuals of human history.&lt;br /&gt;I believe they knew they had given us a great treasure.  A treasure to be cherished and celebrated each year on September 17th.  In fact with all valuable treasures you make a map so that if it should become lost or threatened you can find your way back to it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the Declaration they in fact set the stage for such a map when they stated: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"But when a long train of Abuses and Usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new safe Guards for their future security."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Today we are seeing the culmination of at least 100 years of abuses with invariably the same object, "absolute despotism". We need to use the map the founders provided in Federalist #'s 45, 46, and 60. They were very clear on the steps and direction needed if the federal government should ignore State Sovereignty and encroach on the rights of the people. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is easy to determine the direction to take to restore this American treasure or ti rediscover it.  In Federalist 45 they declare that the States are sovereign who formed a union for certain Constitutionally limited purposes. They made it clear the federal government needs the State governments to justify its existence. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Federalist 46 they tell us that ambitious encroachments of the federal government of the State governments would excite the opposition of all of the States not just a few.  They believed the way to get back to the Constitution in these cases was for the States to:&lt;br /&gt;1. Sound the general alarm.&lt;br /&gt;2. Espouse common cause.&lt;br /&gt;3. Open correspondence between each other.&lt;br /&gt;4. Devise a plan of resistance.&lt;br /&gt;5. Cause one spirit to animate and conduct the whole.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They believed these actions by the States would be supported by the people who would expect their State government to react on their behalf and would thus be able to defeat these attempts by the federal government.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Federalist 60 they stated their belief that the people would revolt against such encroachments with the State governments heading and directing the revolt. The Founding Fathers believed the true power of government would be held or reserved on behalf of the people by the State governments.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The steps are clearly outlined and the path is amply marked for us. It is because there are those in this world who hate America and therefore the American people.&lt;br /&gt;Why does the world hate America?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Those in this world who oppose liberty and freedom hate us.  Those who would enslave a people with the liberty to choose their life's path hate us. Dictators and their henchmen hate America for standing as a beacon of freedom for so many.  Those who want to lord over people with false religions and deny them the freedom to worship according to the dictates of their hearts hate us.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I could go on and on with a laundry list of reasons for why those of this world might choose to hate America enough to perpetrate heinous and cowardly acts against us like those of 9/11.  However, there is one main reason I want to address.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The world hates us for who we are and what and who we represent.  Our Founding Fathers believed the true source of liberty was described in 2 Corinthians 3:17 "Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For most of America's short life we have been a beacon of hope to those around the world who sought this true liberty. We have been that "shining city on a hill" as Ronald Reagan described it for those who dream of liberty, freedom, and prosperity.  Because of that, there are many who hate us. Why, because we stand for everything they deny or despise.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As American's we must not loose site of the true source of our God given liberty.  We must not allow the evil people of this world extinguish or dim that beacon of liberty and hope. When those people do attack us like on 9/11, we must stand united in defiance to fear and intimidation.  We must never allow ourselves to become complacent about our liberty. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We must never allow anyone including Obama to downplay what really happened that day or who was responsible for the attacks. After the conversation I felt it was important to try to explain the difference between  Project Resolve and the Tenth Amendment Resolution movement.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Let me state first of all I commend the people at www.thetenthamendmentcenter.com for what they are doing.  They have been mounting a valiant effort to get states to declare their sovereignty.  This effort is centered on each state's legislators pledging to uphold the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution. In fact, I  would be glad to join forces with them at any time.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Several States have passed what are called Tenth Amendment Resolutions.  Unfortunately, resolutions of this type are non-binding and largely ceremonial.  They are more a statement than a binding document.  It is great that enough legislators in several states were able to pass such resolutions.  However, what real effect did these resolutions have on the Federal governments continued encroachments upon state sovereignty?  Little if any, I am sad to say.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How does a Petition of Right differ?  A petition of right demands that our rights be restored to us.  Not only the rights retained by the states under the Tenth Amendment, but all rights and guarantees afforded by the entire Constitution. A petition of right signed jointly by the governors of two thirds of the states in my opinion is a document that would require some kind of action on the part of the Federal government.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I believe the Founding Fathers understood this concept quite well.   In fact the first Continental Congress used this form of document to petition the Government of Britain to restore their rights as fellow British citizens.  They used this method based on historical precedent. After all the British Parliament had issued a Petition of Right to King Charles I in 1628.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The very 1st Amendment to our great governing document after all ensures this right of petition to redress our grievances against the Federal government.  They thought it was only second to freedom of religion and speech as far as its importance in securing the rights of the people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Founders in Federalist 45, 46, and 60 outline a procedure, or road map if you will, on what to do and who was to do it in case this ever became necessary. They the State governments were to take up the common cause and devise a plan of action.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;That is exactly what Project Resolve is about. It is about getting the State Governments of 34 states to sound the alarm, devise a plan, and espouse common cause. I was sparked by a deep desire to see this country returned to the firm foundation our Founding Fathers gave us a great determination and vision.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I believe they gave us a very valuable treasure, "a Republican Form of Self-Government".  They were so sure of the value of this treasure that they put safeguards in place to protect it if someone came to steal it. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They realized there would be those who would want to destroy this treasure or to take it from us undetected. Knowing this they gave us a map to find it if it was lost or stolen.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the third clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution they left us a tool to use to attempt to bring the federal government back into check.  They gave us the right to assemble peaceably and to petition the Government for a redress (set right or remedy)of grievances. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In the Federalist they gave us instructions on who should take up the cause of the people in returning to the original intent of the Constitution. Specifically, Federalist 45,46,and 60 tell us the sovereign State governments are to be the peoples advocates in the common cause of defending against the federal government's encroachment (advance against proper limits)of the rights of the people and the States.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is clearly up to we the people with the assistance of the State Governments to hold the would be thieves at bay.  Will we cherish this valuable treasure once more and take the required actions to restore it to its proper place? Or will we let the map go unused and thus give up the treasure forevermore?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Which path will the American people choose? They can tell you it deals with religious freedom, freedom of the press, and free speech.  However, there is a forgotten or much ignored clause that is perhaps the most important part in these times.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The final clause of the First Amendment states, "or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I believe the "right to petition the Government" or "Petition of Right" is the Constitutionally supplied and mandated solution to our situation. The Founding Fathers knew the importance of this clause very well.  In fact they used it prior to the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration itself is in fact a Petition of Right.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Petition of Right merely is a statement asserting the rights that already exist.   It does not ask for new or additional rights.  The British Parliament sent a Petition of Right to King Charles I in 1628 to assert their rights which where being violated by the Crown.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Since this Petition of Right is considered second only to the Magna Carta in England, the colonist as British Citizens would have been well aware of it.  I am sure this was the reason for the petition dated October 26, 1774 from the Continental Congress to the King asking for his help with solutions.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The petition, which outlined a peaceful redress of grievances, was summarily rejected by the British government. They sent a second letter called the "Olive Branch Petition" to the King on July 8, 1775.  It was rejected outright.  In taking these steps the Founding Father gave us a precedent to follow in the future.  They then included it in the First Amendment to give future generations a peaceable means or solution to Governmental encroachments.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now is the time for us to follow this historic and reasoned example to reclaim our rights under the Constitution and restore State Sovereignty. That is what Project Resolve is.  It is an attempt to the governments of at least 33 States to unite in sending a "Petition of Right "  redressing our grievances to the federal government. In fact there are those that would say America is finished.  That things have gone to far. In fact a state representative told me last Wednesday, "America will be a socialist nation within a year and there is nothing we can do to stop it."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I emphatically disagree!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why, you might ask? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My answer is simple.  The American people have always been a resilient people. A people that thrives in the face of adversity. A people who live for the challenge.                                     &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Telling an American "it can't be done" is like throwing down the gauntlet. They will do everything in their power to try to prove it wrong.  Many Americans will still call upon God for His strength in accomplishing the task at hand.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These are the same people who began by defeating the greatest army of their day with the surrender of Cornwallis. A people who crafted the most amazing form of government man has ever known. It is easy to determine what they believed should happen if this should become the case. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What did the Founding Fathers have to say on the issue? &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Federalist: 45&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"…The State governments may be regarded as constituent and essential parts of the federal government; while the latter is nowise essential to the operation or organization of the former."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;• The State governments are needed by the federal government to justify its   existence.&lt;br /&gt;• The existence of the State governments is not dependent on the federal government's existence.&lt;br /&gt;• The States are Sovereigns who formed a union for certain constitutionally limited purposes.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Federalist: 46&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;“...But ambitious encroachments of the federal government, of the State governments, would not excite the opposition of a single State, or of a few States only. It may make you feel better for a time but it does nothing to cure the overall disease.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The tax issue, government waste, government bailouts are all just symptoms of the overall problem or disease.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The disease is our federal government has violated the very Constitution that formed it. States have failed to exercise and maintain their sovereignty and to protect the people against an out of control and unresponsive federal government.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In Federalist 46 tells us what should happen to cure the disease. I think that question can be answered quite simply by turning to its Preamble. It is after all the mission statement if you will for the rest of the document.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Preamble states: &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First, who does it say formed the union? We the People of the United States. It doesn't say the federal government.  The constitutional convention delegates recognized that their authority came from "We the People".  The authority came from the people of the individual states.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Secondly it states that the purpose was to form a more perfect union.  The original union of states under the Articles of Confederacy was a weak and ineffectual union.  Therefore, they saw a need to come up with a new document to provide the necessary authority to government to make it effective. At the same time they wanted to clearly define the limits of such a union on the federal governmental entity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The third purpose is says is to establish justice.  This set up a means for administering justice equally to all. It did not provide for the courts to be the overriding authority on all matters. The Constitution outlines the means of establishing such justice from the local, state, and national levels.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Fourthly, it says it purpose is to insure domestic tranquility. One of the events that caused the Convention to be held was the revolt known as Shays' Rebellion. The taking up of arms by war veterans revolting against a state government was a shock to the system under the Articles of Confederacy. The keeping of the peace and the maintenance of tranquility at home was a prime concern. The framers hoped that the new Constitution would provide the means to prevent any such rebellions in the future.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The fifth stated purpose is to provide for the common defense. The new nation was fearful of attack from all sides. No one state was really capable of fending off an attack by land or sea. There was a real concern of attack from Britain and Spain,and attacks by Indians along the frontier. There was not one of the United States that could go it alone. They needed each other to survive.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;To promote the general welfare was stated as its sixth purpose. The whole point of having tranquility, justice, and defense was to promote the general welfare. This meant to allow every state and every citizen of those states to benefit from what the a strong national government could provide. This did not however, provide for a centralized government which would usurp the sovereign rights of the several United States. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The seventh and last purpose stated is to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity. Hand in hand with the general welfare, the framers looked forward to the blessings of liberty. They were very concerned that they were creating a nation that would resemble something of a paradise for liberty, as opposed to the tyranny of a monarchy. They envisioned a union of states where citizens could look forward to being free as opposed to looking out for the interests of a king or any other form of tyrannical government. More than for themselves, they wanted to be sure that the future generations of citizens of the various states of the union would enjoy that same liberty they cherished.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The preamble lays out the basis and purposes for forming the union.  When you read it and then the Constitution it should be abundantly clear that it is a document that was designed to govern a strong union of states. A lot of times this comes after they have expressed something like "but what can one person do".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I take these requests to heart.  So if they don't want an answer I am the last person on earth they should ask this question.  If you don't want a real answer, then don't ask me.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are lots of things you can do to start the process. Following are just a few that come to mind:  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1. Do a self inventory, if you will, of yourself and what you believe and why you believe it. In other words, what is your worldview and what is it based on.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2. If you discover you don't really understand what you believe or don't have a clear worldview, a good place to start is the Bible.  After all a Biblical Worldview is the conservative's take on life.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3. Read the Declaration  of Independence (several times).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;4. Get a pocket copy of the Constitution and the Declaration (about $3.00) and read it (several times).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;5. Once you have your worldview straight and have read the Constitution and Declaration you will be able to explain what you believe and why.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6. Buy extra pocket copies and give the family, friends, and co-workers so they will understand our form of government (Constitutional Republic) is not a democracy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;7. Get to know you local and state office holders. They should know your face and name when you meet them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;8. Call, write, email, fax your elected officials with your concerns and to praise them when they do the right thing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;9. Volunteer for like-minded candidates campaigns.  This will give you a good look at what they are really about.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;10. Keep track of your elected officials job performance on the core issues.  Help to find a new candidate if they fail to represent your views and their principles.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;11. Read about our Founding Fathers from books by organizations like Wallbuilders or others.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;12.  Stay informed and involved.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;13. Educate your family about the truth and America's history.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;14. Get up from the recliner in front of the TV and take a stand. (no pun intended)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These are just a few examples of things you can do.  Remember, one person can make a difference. It reads as follows:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and comfort.  No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, on on Confession in open Court."&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The definition is quite clear.  Unless you are levying war against the states united, you are not committing treason.  Rising up in a popular movement designed to restore a Republican form of government to the states would not constitute treason under the our Constitution. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Organizing a voter revolt would not fit the definition.  A state's legislature reasserting that states sovereignty as a part of the union, doesn't fit it either. So what are we afraid of?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;How long before we finally get a fire in our belly for our liberty and stand up united and do something about it? Or are we just complaining to be complaining?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Maybe its that we are to comfortable setting in our recliner watching mindless TV shows every evening instead of taking action.  Maybe we are afraid we might lose our job or our friends?  Whatever it is it needs to come to a stop.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;On my Show America First on BlogTalkRadio, I have served notice to my listeners we identify problems not complain. This is a declaration against the Federal Government from the States.&lt;br /&gt;I believe the legislatures of all 50 states should adopt it as a resolution to be signed and sent to the Congress to express our displeasure with their usurpation and encroachment on the rights of the States and therefore the people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The unanimous Declaration of the fifty united States of America&lt;br /&gt;When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to re assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to this opinion.&lt;br /&gt;We reaffirm these truths to be self-evident, all men are created equal, they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, and among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — In order to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — At the point any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience has shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. Section 8, of the Constitution, the most wholesome and necessary delineation of powers for the public good.&lt;br /&gt;The Federal Government has refused for a long time to refrain from construing to deny or disparage those rights which are retained by the people under the Ninth Amendment to the Constitution.&lt;br /&gt;The Federal Government has repeatedly without impunity usurped those rights and powers reserved to the States or the people respectfully as delineated by the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution. &lt;br /&gt;The Federal Government has failed to guarantee to every State in this union a Republican Form of Government, and to protect them against invasion and against domestic violence by allowing millions of illegal undocumented aliens into these United States as prescribed by Article IV. When I finished one of the listeners in the chat room asked me, "what are the &lt;em&gt;Federalist Papers&lt;/em&gt; and who wrote them."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I of course explained to them what they were and who wrote them.  Afterwards, I thought about the question and asked myself how many other people are in the same state of lack of knowledge and how did they get there?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I came to the conclusion that most people have never seen or read the &lt;em&gt;Federalist Papers&lt;/em&gt; or have a clue they exist or why. Why?  Our educational system does not deem them important enough to teach! &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;What are the &lt;em&gt;Federalist Papers&lt;/em&gt;?  They were a set of letters written under the name of "&lt;em&gt;&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;Publius&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;" and submitted to the newspapers of the New York colony.  The first thirty-six articles were completed by January of 1788 and appeared as volume one on March 22. The remaining forty-nine were rushed into print as volume two on May 28.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The writers have been discovered to be Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay.  Jay only wrote two of the articles, numbers one and sixty-four.  The purpose of the articles was to &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;persuade&lt;/span&gt; the New York citizens to vote to adopt the proposed new Constitution and thus replace the Articles of &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;Confederation&lt;/span&gt; which the colonies had operated under.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are eighty-five of the articles total.  Although the &lt;em&gt;Federalist &lt;/em&gt;did not motivate people to adopt the Constitution, it supplied them, and us, with the most authoritative interpretation of the Constitution once it was adopted.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Madison's ideas are at the heart of the &lt;em&gt;Federalist.  &lt;/em&gt;Many of the Constitution's framers were, like Hamilton, trained as lawyers.  Madison was not. Yet Madison is among the greatest teachers of our laws. Along with Hamilton, Madison had studied the history of leagues, ancient and modern, to prove that a loose confederation could not address itself to challenging times with any efficiency.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In this day of re-interpretation of the Constitution it would serve "&lt;em&gt;we the people&lt;/em&gt;" to read and understand all of &lt;em&gt;The Federalist.  &lt;/em&gt;After all if we don't understand the reasoning and purpose of our founding document we can be easily led astray by politicians and judges who want to pervert its true intent and meaning.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The fact that our education system has not seen fit to educate us about even the Constitution let alone &lt;em&gt;The Federalist&lt;/em&gt; should cause alarm among the citizens of this republic.  In my opinion they have cheated all of us out of a knowledge and respect for our republican form of government.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Please get ahold of  a copy of each of these important articles.  You can obtain a book from Bantam Classic with the whole series of eighty-five articles. No flags will fly at half-mast to honor her. The mainstream media will not cover the story. The President will not hold a press conference. No in fact the event will go largely unnoticed by the world, but it shouldn't.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;However, there is a celebration going on in heaven because one of the saints has come home. The people who knew and loved her, while sad at her passing, will be celebrating knowing that she is with God now and healed completely of all of her &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;afflictions&lt;/span&gt;. She is singing with the heavenly throngs in praise of God.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It was my honor and pleasure to have known this special women who touched the lives of so many people in her sphere of influence. They never had any doubt of her &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;commitment&lt;/span&gt; to her family and her God. She was a encouragement to those who called her mother, grandmother, great-&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;grandmother&lt;/span&gt;, aunt, or friend.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Who was this women you ask? What did she do?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;She was a women who inspired others to a faith in God and acceptance of Jesus Christ as their Savior. This women raised 9 sons without expecting a hand out from the government or anyone for that matter. A women who put her trust and hope in God for her needs. She loved her children and grandchildren with all she had after her &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;commitment&lt;/span&gt; to her God. What set us apart from other nations of the world?&lt;br /&gt;The answer is quite simple really.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Its people!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A people who had a strong sense of purpose and an abiding faith in God Almighty. People who faced adversity with a determination and a ever ending reliance on the hand of Divine Providence to see them through.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They not only didn't seek governments aid they redefined government in accordance with the principle contained in 2 Corinthians 3:17 which says "...Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty." They devised a Republican form of government, the likes of which had never been seen before.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Who were these people you might ask. Let me just name a few.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First there is, George Washington, who besides being a leader in the military and government, was an accomplished planter and inventor. He introduced red winter wheat to the United States and experimented with crop rotation and limited till farming methods. Washington bred mules and designed a special barn for thrashing wheat using horses on a slated floor. He was a man of many talents. He took serious the passage in Genesis which says that we are to be stewards of God's creation. For example, he would not allow good healthy trees to be cut before exhausting the supply of dead or dying timber. Washington exemplified the type of people who made America great.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Second there is, Thomas Jefferson, who was the drafter of the finest declaration ever written that defined our nations future. Jefferson was an inventor in his own right. He invented self opening doors and a 7 day clock among other things.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Men like Eli Whitney, the inventor of the cotton gin. This invention set in motion modern textile production methods.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;Cryus&lt;/span&gt; McCormick who invented the mechanized reaper which allowed faster harvesting of grain crops. This in turn allowed America to become the "bread basket of the world".&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat which revolutionized water travel and shipping.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Benjamin Franklin, inventor of bi-focal glasses and the discoverer of electricity.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sam Colt who revolutionized hand gun with his invention of the revolver and standardized production methods.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone which revolutionized communications and sparked a technological boom that continues today.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Booker T. Washington, who overcame prejudice to attend and later teach at a university. He went on to develop over 100 uses for the peanut among other things.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Orville and Wilbur Wright, who perfected powered flight. They started an industry which changed the face of warfare and its tactics and the birth of commercial aviation.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The list could go on and on!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;These are people who saw needs and sought solutions. They accepted the challenge rather than to be overcome by the situation. These were not men who waited on the government to solve the problem. They didn't ask for or expect government money to pay for their research or experimentation. These were people who understood this was not the role of government.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Instead they merely expected government to let them move forward without interference or restrictions. They believed in a government that understood and encouraged entrepreneurship to develop solutions and new technology to benefit all people.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We still have these same inventive people in America today. The difference is our government has lost sight of it republican principles. For example, we seem to have forgotten that "We the People" are the government in &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;America&lt;/span&gt;.  We have forgotten we elect &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;officials&lt;/span&gt; and then "loan" them the power for a brief period of time, but that "we the people" ultimately retain the power. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Those elected seem to forget they are duly elected &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;representatives&lt;/span&gt; of the public trust.  They are entrusted by the people who elected them to deal with and solve the problems our country faces.  When they fail to do so, it is our duty and obligation to fire them (vote them out) and replace them with someone who will take this sacred trust to heart and work for America not their political party's interest.  People who understand  we have only loaned them the power and act accordingly.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;We are facing real problems in this nation.  &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;Unfortunately&lt;/span&gt;, the majority of the people in Washinacredg ton seem to have lost sight of the fact they have only been loaned them the power.  They are more concerned about extreme partisanship then about solving these problems.  They are more concerned with finding ways to usurp the people's power than finding solutions for America.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now it has become obvious to most observers that our current &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5"&gt;bureaucratically&lt;/span&gt; controlled big &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6"&gt;government&lt;/span&gt; is all too ready to throw money at the problems we face in hopes they can spend their way out of the mess they have created.  This approach does not work in a household's budget and it will not work in these instances either.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is time for "we the people" to remember that our founders understood that all rights come from our Creator to the people.  They are inalienable rights that cannot be taken from us. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The American people need to make this their central focus if they are to turning have any real hope of turning things around and reclaiming their God given liberties and freedoms.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is time Americans acted like this country still belongs to them and decided to act accordingly. The time is now.  This nation can not afford to waste another day. The best hope for our nation is for "we the people" to simply, &lt;em&gt;Do what is right in the eyes of their God and their fellow Americans&lt;/em&gt;. Absolutely not. In fact the average&lt;br /&gt;American is either uninsured or under-insured and know they are only one&lt;br /&gt;broken arm away from not being able to pay their rent or put gas in their&lt;br /&gt;vehicle. They are people who are not trying to figure out whether to get a face&lt;br /&gt;lift or a breast enlargement - they are just wondering what they will do if they&lt;br /&gt;have a gall bladder attack or even a bad case of the flu. They and millions like&lt;br /&gt;them don't have the luxury of partisan bickering. They simply can't afford to.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Their needs and issues are far more basic, such as having a job, food to eat,&lt;br /&gt;money to pay the rent, buy clothes for their children, and having enough&lt;br /&gt;to pay the utility bills in the extremes of summer and winter.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They don't want politicians to posture and bicker over which party should&lt;br /&gt;get the credit for solving the issues. They just want them to solve them&lt;br /&gt;without increasing their already high taxes. The are the middle class hard&lt;br /&gt;working people who make up the majority of this country.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They are the ones who keep America moving and they are being punished by&lt;br /&gt;elite politicians who want to buy votes to retain their position of&lt;br /&gt;influence so they can achieve fame and fortune.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Is it possible to reset the political mechanism of America with a common&lt;br /&gt;sense approach to the issues? Is it possible to do the right thing?&lt;br /&gt;after all that is the type of thing that should be driving members of Congress,&lt;br /&gt;too.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If they are incapable of this type of thinking then it is time to drive them out&lt;br /&gt;and send them back home, and replace them with people who know who they&lt;br /&gt;work for and why they work for them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Politics shouldn't be about having one side beat the other side. Its about&lt;br /&gt;making things work for every America. It should be about offering solutions&lt;br /&gt;rather than creating obstacles.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The days of self serving partisanship must come to an end if America is to&lt;br /&gt;survive. We can not continue to punish the average working American with&lt;br /&gt;penalties for hard work by taxing them if they work overtime or a second job&lt;br /&gt;to get ahead or to put a child through college or to buy a nicer home. Hard&lt;br /&gt;work and honest effort should be rewarded not punished with an increased&lt;br /&gt;tax liability.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is time for our elected officials' to lead and govern not pander to one group&lt;br /&gt;to get the votes needed to stay in office at the expense of another. That is&lt;br /&gt;not what America is about. It seems it just keeps going and going like the EverReady rabbit. Without it, he said, "a bad situation could become dramatically worse." &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;The problem is all of these so-called stimulus and bailouts have already made a bad situation dramatically worse. It would have been painful but a shorter period of pain had they let things take their natural readjustment course. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Now almost everyday we amass new staggering amounts of debt for future generations. Thomas Jefferson said, &lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;" It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world".&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Unfortunately, Obama and others don't think this principle applies to them. They obviously have no problem piling debt onto our children and grandchildren. It seems they don't give a moment of thought to anything but buying votes now and let the future leaders and people worry about it.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;This is not leadership by any stretch of the imagination. If this is his brand of "change" he can keep it. His new slogan should be, "Yes we can mortgage our future".&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;Will this madness never end?&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div&gt;The picture shows who will be paying for this mind boggling spending spree.
